Every trip is insured through Uber Insurance
Uber will insure you while you're driving with Uber. You do need to have your own auto insurance but it the Uber policy that covers you while you drive. Let's go over the program.
While on a trip
Uber Insurance covers you while your on a trip from the beginning of the trip to the end of the trip.
Between excepting trips
You are covered when you are logged in but have not received a rip request.
When you're offline
Your personal insurance covers you when you are not on the Uber app.
On while a trip
During a trip, liability to other parties is covered by a one million policy.
One Million Liability
Uber's commercial coverage will cover a drivers liability to your rider instead of your personal insurance coverage.
One Million Uninsured and Under-insured Motorist
If another party is the cause of an accident and does not have proper insurance, Uber's policy covers bodily injury of all parties in your vehicle.
Contingent Collision and Comprehensive
As long as a ride share driver has personal collision or comprehensive insurance, this policy covers physical damage that occurs during a trip and is subject to a deductible.
Between your trips
Let's say you haven't received / accepted a ride request yet, the Uber policy provides a 3rd party liability coverage that meets or exceeds the third party liability insurance for every US state.
Liability (If Necessary)
$50,000 / $100,000 / $25,000
This policy covers bodily injury to 50K / individual /100,000 total for an accident / property damage: up to 25K.
Uber drivers must have and maintain personal auto insurance that adheres to the state regulations where they are driving.
